❊ About The Learning Greenhouse

Nurturing confidence,

curiosity and growth.

I am a highly experienced teacher and tutor with 15 years of teaching experience in London’s independent school sector. I have also taught in schools across Kent and East Sussex, providing additional perspective on different educational settings and approaches. Alongside this, I am a fluent French speaker and have always enjoyed teaching French.

As the founder of The Learning Greenhouse, I combine my professional experience with a warm, nurturing, and meticulous approach. I believe that children learn best when they feel encouraged and supported, and I take great care to create an environment where pupils can grow in confidence, develop resilience, and foster a genuine love of learning.

I have guided many pupils preparing for entry to a wide range of independent and grammar schools, ensuring that lessons are tailored to the individual needs of each child. For me, success is not only about exam results, but about helping children feel prepared, capable, and confident as they take the next step in their educational journey.

Supporting parents is also a key part of my work. I understand that the admissions process, or simply finding the right approach to a child’s learning, can sometimes feel daunting. I provide clear guidance and reassurance, working in partnership with families to ensure they feel well-informed and supported at every stage.

My passion is helping children thrive academically and emotionally, equipping them with the tools, confidence, and mindset they need to embrace future opportunities with positivity and enthusiasm.

Emma - Founder & Tutor at The Learning Greenhouse

  • Emma started working with my daughter to prepare her for the 11+ exams. Every week, she came with a smile on her face and connected with her using her humour and engaging in conversations with her. She was always prepared and organised which helped us visualise the study plan before the exams. She would give us feedback at the end of the sessions and homework for her to do as well. What stood out for me is that she has a been a good guide for us the parents to understand the British educational system and which direction to follow; but also for our daughter during the whole process. She encouraged her, believed in her, nurtured her and supported her during the learning journey. She also stepped in to practise the interview with her which helped her feel at ease and be ready to share about herself and her opinions with others. In the end, thanks to the team effort, my daughter got into the two schools she wanted most. She is now at Putney High School and enjoys it a lot! We absolutely recommend Emma as she is a fantastic tutor but also a good influence for her students.

  • Emma is a warm and intelligent person who explains well when you don’t understand something and always tries to get the best out of you.

    Aria, Student

  • Emma worked with our daughter on Maths and English and we were hugely impressed with her professionalism and dedication. Emma’s calm and friendly approach worked so well with our slightly anxious daughter and her confidence when approaching tasks improved so much during the time she worked with Emma. The thorough and systematic way Emma taught her sessions meant that she quickly uncovered any gaps in our daughter’s learning and that really reassured us that we had found the perfect tutor. I would highly recommend Emma as a tutor, she is just wonderful and she definitely has the ability to get the very best from her students.
